Shift Maintenance Engineer

Job Brief:

The role will focus on reactive, planned maintenance and continuous improvements within a fast paced Aerospace Manufacturing environment.

Working Pattern:

Initially, during the induction and training period, the role is Monday to Friday (Days). On successful completion (3-6 months) the engineer will be incorporated into covering a 2-shift system that operates from Monday am through to Friday pm:

  • Morning (06.00 until 14.00)
  • Nights (22.00 until 06.00
  • Afternoon (14.00 until 22.00)
  • A Weekend call-out rota is in operation

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in the day to day activities of the maintenance team
  • You will work proactively and reactively within the production area, fixing production breakdowns and carrying out Planned & Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Monitor and improve the plant where required including designing working solutions
  • The role has a large variety of tasks and will suit an individual who enjoys providing engineering solutions and enjoys a challenge
  • Ensure planned maintenance is carried out in line with the site schedule. Liaise with maintenance manager and production managers to ensure tasks be completed when required


  • OND/HNC or equivalent experience in electrical, electronics, mechanics or directly related subject

Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience of PC based CNC equipment, drive systems, EDM and/or machine tools
  • Strong electrical background required
  • Maintenance and alignment of precision Machine Tools, sub-assemblies and ancillary equipment
  • Clear and logical approach to fault finding complex electronic control systems
  • Working in line with current Health & Safety practices
  • Ability to communicate and engage on all levels from operator to senior management
  • Strong I.T. Skills in Windows based OS (Word, Excel and Outlook)
