Senior Buyer

An exciting role is available for a Senior Buyer to join our Supply Chain Management team.

Job Purpose:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for all purchasing activity for commodities related to aerospace parts manufacture, special purpose machine tools and associated equipment.

Experience of leading projects and small teams in a purchasing environment is essential.

You will be responsible for helping to build and shape the purchasing team and conduct continuous improvement activity related to the Purchasing function. You will be supported by Buyers and Logistics Coordinators who will be responsible for movement of parts externally and for supporting the Purchasing function with regard to KPI’s and administration.

You will be responsible for delivering in support of business operational KPIs with respect to quality, cost and delivery and you will be responsible for identifying, driving and delivering supply chain cost reduction activity.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring QCD of purchased goods and services
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with regard to FAIR, FPA, DP and Import/Export
  • Identifying, leading and delivering supply chain cost reduction activity
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements in support of purchasing activity
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct periodic Supplier review in line with the Winbro Supplier Engagement Programme (SEP)
  • Review and evaluate supplier performance with a view to ‘get well or exit’
  • Define risks and mitigations within supply chain
  • Create and own supply chain business continuity plan
  • Share best practice throughout all Winbro business units
  • Order placement and expediting in line with business requirements

Educational attainment required:

  • Preferably degree educated
  • Ideally CIPS full or partially qualified or on training path
  • Good standard of basic education

Skills & Aptitude required:

  • Ability to travel and conduct external stakeholder engagement
  • Understanding of Aerospace processes and requirements
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong IT skills – ERP systems and MS Office, especially Excel
