CNC Machine Operator - EDM

Winbro Group Technologies are an acknowledged global market leader in the design and manufacture of advanced machine systems, technology development and service provision for both aerospace and land based gas turbine industries.

In addition to providing turnkey solutions, Winbro has a tier 1 approved component manufacturing facility which utilises our own machines and technologies to serve OEM customers such as Rolls-Royce, GE and Siemens. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic CNC Machine Operator to join our WAM Production team based in Shepshed. This is a temporary position until the end of 2018, with the possibility of becoming permanent next year.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Operation of CNC machine tools to produce cooling holes and other features in various types of Gas Turbine components
  • Responsible for inspection of completed operations using equipment such as automated CMMs & optical vision systems and manual gauges and tooling
  • Meet or exceed production targets, and complete visual trackers to display progress  
  • Complete manual and PC based production records and identify any non-conformance and record via the company software
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area
  • Complete daily preventative maintenance checks and raise any issues or areas of concern
  • Ensure machines are maintained in an optimum condition by changing consumables as required, i.e. electrodes & tooling
  • Carry out other duties as required compatible with this role and the employee’s individual skills at the direction of the supervisor/manager

Essential Skills/ Requirements:

  • CNC Machine Tool experience is highly preferable, especially electro-discharge machining (EDM)
  • Practical experience and understanding of Aero and / or Industrial Gas Turbine Component manufacture is also preferable
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment
  • Ability to use basic measuring equipment such as micrometers and callipers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Strong PC skills / literacy
  • Attention to detail and ability to operate competently in an aerospace manufacturing environment (Winbro is AS9100D accredited and upholds high quality standards)
  • Good level of manual dexterity


  • 12 hour Shifts – Days and Nights [6 until 6]*
  • Continental Shift Pattern [4 ‘On’ – 4 ‘Off’] on a 2 week rotation

*An initial training period will take place where a daytime Mon-Fri shift pattern will be required
