Shift Maintenance Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join our team based at our WAM facility in Shepshed.

The role will focus on reactive, planned maintenance and continuous improvements within a fast paced Aerospace Manufacturing environment.

Working Pattern

Initially, during the induction and training period, the role is Monday to Friday (Days). On successful completion (3-6 months) the engineer will be incorporated into covering a 3-shift system as follows:

  • Morning (6.00 until 14.00)
  • Afternoon (14.00 until 22.00)
  • Nights (22.00 until 6.00)

A Weekend call-out rota is also in operation (approx 1 in 4)

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in the day to day activities of the maintenance team
  • You will work proactively and reactively within the production area, fixing production breakdowns and carrying out Planned & Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Monitor and improve the plant were necessary including designing a working solution
  • The role has a large variety of tasks and will suit an individual who enjoys providing Engineering solutions and enjoys a challenge
  • Ensure planned maintenance is carried out in line with the site schedule. Liaise with maintenance manager and production managers to ensure tasks be completed when required

Skills / Requirements: 

  • Experience of PC based CNC equipment, drive systems, EDM and/or machine tools
  • Strong electrical background required
  • Maintenance and alignment of precision Machine Tools, sub-assemblies and ancillary equipment
  • Clear and logical approach to fault finding complex electronic control systems
  • Working in line with current Health & Safety practices
  • Ability to communicate and engage on all levels from operator to senior management
  • Strong I.T. Skills in Windows based OS (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Formal Qualifications:

  • OND/HNC or equivalent experience in electrical, electronics, mechanics or directly related subject
