WAM Maintenance Manager

This position represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team in Shepshed.

The successful candidate will support manufacturing through the “hands on” leadership of the onsite maintenance team in the advanced machining facility.  They will also lead projects to install additional capacity as the facility continues its expansion, whilst owning and delivering a strategy to improve machine availability and MTBF.   

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the maintenance department – a team of 5 maintenance engineers, providing 24/5 coverage
  • Implement a strategy that balances both proactive and reactive maintenance with continuous improvement
  • Own machine availability & MTBF for the facility, and increase them through focussed improvements
  • Maintain a proactive safety culture through robust assessment and management of risk
  • Develop the maintenance team through coaching, individual training plans and objectives
  • Provide monthly KPI reporting of department performance - analyse and respond to data trends
  • Ensure compliance of machine maintenance records in line with Winbro’s Business Management System (AS9100D)
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in line with the preventative maintenance schedule & NADCAP requirements
  • Lead machine installation and internal facility move projects
  • Provide “hands on” support for key equipment breakdowns
  • Interface with suppliers & Winbro group to define and maintain a critical spares holding & order parts
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness through continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and processes
  • Use & Maintain the maintenance aspects of Winbro’s ERP system – Factory Master

Formal Qualifications Required:

  • A sound education to HNC/HND (or apprentice trained) in an electrical/mechanical discipline

Experience / Knowledge Requirements:

  • High energy & drive – a production focussed mind-set and “hands on” attitude, with an attention to detail
  • Previous experience in a machine tool environment, maintaining a variety of equipment
  • A credible leader who engages and develops their team through leading by example
  • Skilled fault finder on mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems with strong Root Cause Analysis understanding
  • Flexible, motivated and a good communicator who can engage at all levels across the facility
  • Computer savvy with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel & Outlook
  • Project management experience of machine tool installation in an aerospace environment is preferable
  • Experience of maintaining EDM and grinding machines is advantageous
